YouTube video with test

In this recipe we’ll create a course that has a video and a test with several for validating the learning. You can use any video from any streaming platform, but we have integrated with YouTube (for now) so you can add a Hakase Object to control the page flow.

Ingredients

  1. A YouTube video. We’ll use our previous example from the tutorial

  2. A project
  3. A course
  4. A question set and test

Method

First, we need to build a project to contain everything. If you have a project already to go, then you can use that otherwise from the Hakase SCORM Course Builder home page

  1. click create project
  2. enter the name of the project – here we’ll use YouTube Project
  3. click save.

Next, create a course

  1. click on the menu item course
  2. click create course
  3. enter a title – we’ll use YouTube Course
  4. click save

Once saved, we can start adding pages.

  1. Click the pages tab
  2. Click create page
  3. For the title enter YouTube Video
  4. For description paste in the URL and wait for the thumbnail to load

  5. After the YouTube video at the bottom click the Hakase Object button
  6. From the Basic Object drop down select YouTube control
  7. In YouTube completion percentage enter 70
  8. Click Ok
  9. Click Save

We now have our page with a YouTube video and YouTube Hakase Object. Next we need to move the page make check the content of the pages from the template.

  1. Click on YouTube Course in the breadcrumbs at the top to go to the course
  2. Click on the pages tab
  3. Click on and drag the YouTube Video page above the Completed page.

Next we need to make the questions for our test. We’ll add them to a page at the end.

  1. Click on question sets in the menu
  2. Click create question set
  3. For the title, enter YouTube Question Set
  4. Click save

Next, after the save operation has completed, we’ll add a description to the question set. This will display in the  course above the questions.

  1. In the description editor enterWe’ve got some questions we’d like you to answer about that video. In order to pass you need to get more than 50% correct.

Next, we’ll add some questions

  1. Click on the questions tab
  2. Click create question
  3. For the question text enter Is this the best video ever made?

  1. Then click the answers tab
  2. Leave question type as Boolean TRUE/FALSE
  3. Leave answer True
  4. For score enter 10
  5. Click save

Let’s create another question.

  1. At the bottom, click Create a new question
  2. Click on the questions tab
  3. Click create question
  4. For the question text enter Who is this amazing artist?
  5. Then click the answers tab
  6. For question type select Single choice (radio)
  7. For the first answer enter Richard Paul Astley and a score of 10
  8. Click add
  9. For the second answer enter Richard Michael Mayall and a score of 0
  10. Click add
  11. For the third answer enter Richard Nixon and a score of 0
  12. Click save

Let’s create one more question.

  1. At the bottom, click Create a new question
  2. Click on the questions tab
  3. Click create question
  4. For the question text enter Complete this sentence: I’m never going to give you __?
  5. Then click the answers tab
  6. For question type select Freeform textfield with specific answer (case sensitive)
  7. For the first answer enter UP with a score of 10
  8. Click add
  9. For the second answer enter up with a score of 10
  10. Click add
  11.  For the last answer enter Up with a score of 10

Free form answers

No we put the question set into a test.

  1. Click tests in the menu
  2. Click create test
  3. For the title enter YouTube Test
  4. Click on the settings tab
  5. For mastery score enter 50
  6. Click
    • show correct answers
    • randomize questions
    • randomize answers
  7. Click question sets tab, leave it as YouTube Question Set
  8. Click save

Our test is now complete. Next, we’ll add it into a page in our course.

  1. Click courses in the menu at the top
  2. Click on YouTube Course
  3. On the first tab, course, scroll down to the field test
  4. Select YouTube Test
  5. Click save

Next, let’s create a page for the test.

  1. Click on the pages tab
  2. Click create page
  3. Enter Test for the title
  4. In the editor, enter Let’s test your knowledge of the video.
  5. Click on the Hakase Object button
  6. From the Basic Object list, select test
  7. Click OK

Next, we’ll move the page and add the score Hakase Object to the final page.

  1. Click on YouTube Course in the breadcrumbs
  2. Click on the pages tab
  3. Click and drag the page Test  to above Completed.

Next, let’s add the score Hakase Object.

  1. Click on the Completed page
  2. Change the text to Congratulations! You have completed this course with a score of .
  3. Move the cursor to just before the full stop
  4. Click the Hakase Object button
  5. From the basic object dropdown, select score.
  6. Click OK
  7. Click save

The course is complete, you can view what it will look like bu

  1. Click on YouTube Course in the bread crumbs
  2. Click on LMS View

Final Course

From here you can add the course to a cluster and a package to export to your LMS of choice.
