Cluster and package options

Now that we’ve linked two courses, let’s review all the options when we sequence them in a cluster.

Sequence options for a cluster

There are 2 options when we have more than once course in a cluster.

Enforce sequence means that the courses must be done in the order listed on the courses tab. You will see this in you Learning Management System when the menu items for the courses become links when a course is completed.

If you don’t select enforce sequence, the courses can be completed in any order.

When you have multiple courses listed in the cluster, you can specify how many of them have to be completed before the the cluster as a whole is completed.

The options are

  • all of the courses must be completed
  • any of the courses must be completed
  • none of the courses need to be completed
  • a minimum number of courses must be completed
  • a minimum percentage of courses must be completed

As an example, from the last section we had 2 courses and selected enforce sequence. As an example if we had 5 courses then the minimum requirement means

  • all 5 of the courses must be completed
  • any 5 of the courses must be completed
  • none of the courses need to be completed
  • a minimum number of the 5 courses must be completed
  • a minimum percentage of the 5 courses must be completed

Packages contain clusters, and have the settings for enforce sequence and minimum requirement.

Sequence options for a package

The are two extra options for a package.

Use LMS wrapper option is for rare instances when your Learning Management System doesn’t display the menu correctly with the courses and clusters.

The default status is “incomplete” option means that the whole package will set the exit status as incomplete if the learner exits before reaching the end.

Package is incomplete

If this option is not sent, then the completion status is unknown until the end of the whole package, at which time the completion status will be complete or incomplete.

From here, you can return to the tutorial top or go on to bringing it all together with the builder.
